The 747-8 Intercontinental last notched up an airline sale of two airplanes quietly in October 2011 with an order from Arik Air. Of course, the airplane is threatened by the ongoing development and refinement of the 777X family, but there’s clearly still a (small) but important place for the 747-8 Intercontinental.
It has the advantage of good availability and there is at least one major 747-400 operator poring over the 747-8 Intercontinental, despite pitching for the 777X too.
