Airbus’ current plans see the A350-900 enter service in the second half of 2014. That goal has already slipped into 2015, much to the annoyance of key Arab airlines that hold sizeable orders for the A350XWB program. And with it, the A350-1000 continues to slide drastically beyond the planned 2017 service entry date too.
For its part, Boeing has sought to corner the A350-1000 by expanding the 777s capabilities to strangulate what little appeal there is for the big Airbus twin. Beyond the headlines and in private, the 777X family is starting to change from fluid to solid state.
