Airbus is under pressure to shore up A330 production if it fails to secure substantial orders at the show in a couple of weeks time.
With current A330neo orders in jeopardy from AirAsia X and effectively dead from Iran Air, the 787 sales blitz so far this year has already killed off the A330-800 while the A330-900 is clearly no match for the 787-9.
Boeing will look to capitalise on Airbus’ lacklustre and disorganised widebody portfolio and build on the strengths of the super efficient 787 family.
