Concerns about GE Aviation’s all-new GE9X engine are largely misunderstood and incorrect. Compressor changes are nowhere near as extensive as seen on the lower thrust rated Rolls-Royce Trent-XWB97 engine powering the Airbus A350-1000.
GE Aviation had this covered almost a year ago.
With major subassemblies for the first few 777-9s arriving into Everett, WA, the program is making good progress to the point where Emirates is quietly confident that it can get its first example slightly sooner than planned.
