Emirates has had a tough first half fiscal year. With a sharp fall in profits driven down in large part to declining yield and increased competition, simply filling up an airplane is not the answer.
But getting smarter is. The shift to Al-Maktoum International Airport effective next decade will employ greater frequency growth with smaller cabins. The arrival of premium economy signals a new emphasis on attracting price-sensitive customers as Emirates moves considers a move away from density and capacity.
